During the match, a group of neo-Nazi fans from Sachsenhausen displayed a banner which read “Sachsenhausen gib Gas!” (Sachsenhausen step on the gas!”). The expression referred to the fact that one of Germany’s concentration camps during the Third Reich was based in Sachsenhausen where thousands of victims were gassed.
